  JavaScript
JavaScript is a programming language that is commonly embedded within web pages and can interface with a visitors browser. Microsoft have produced their own version, called JScript and neither should be confused with Java, a much more comprehensive and a totally different language.

Scripts are often used to give site visitors some interaction and make the page dynamic. However, some sites contain malicious scripts that change your computer settings without your knowledge. In other words they invade your privacy and breach your security. Fortunately these sites are a very small portion of the world wide web but because of their presence a compromise between security and usability must be made.

All mainstrem browsers let you choose between scripts being Enabled, Disabled or Prompt, but before you choose a setting you should try visiting some of your usual web sites and try viewing your web mail, with your browser set to Scripts-Prompt. If that doesn't convince you that life without scripts isn't practicable then nothing will.

The vast majority of Internet users choose the JavaScript Enabled setting and the Yaoogloo! Search Tool requires that setting.
