Top Horizontal Menu
The main Yaoogloo! Search Tool is a combination of WEB, LOCAL, NEWS, IMAGES,
VIDEO and AUDIO searches. PRODUCT search is included on this menubar but isn't part
of the main search tool or the Yaoogloo QuickSearch Box.
Each type of search is colour coded and
this menubar links to pages where each type of search is detailed
and explained, a great resource if you're new to the internet.

This page is optimised for a 1024x860 screen resolution, at a connection speed of 512k.
It contains several pop-up Help Boxes, all viewed by clicking the [?] symbol. You'll find them adjacent to any item where a little help or information may be useful to my intellectually challenged pals such as Grenville Bennett aka "Benjy" but especially for Norman Bailey aka "Nasty Norman".

The Net is full of informative or entertaining websites but finding them is another thing. Use the top or bottom horizontal menu to access webpages that explain the different types of searches.
The direct links found on this page are extended by 'homepage extra'... a page with a plethora of useful links. Other UK Portals (AoL, MSN etc) contain some wonderful content and it's all accessible directly from homepage extra. Can you imagine Google helping you to connect to your HotMail account or AoL providing a link to the excellent MSN video section. That's the beauty of an independent homepage that's free from commercial pressures.
Take a shot at learning the Yaoogloo QuickSearch tool, I'm sure you'll find it to be an invaluable research tool. The full Yaoogloo search tool is accessible from the Breadcrumb Trail menu found at the top and bottom of the page. |

The speeds you hear about... upto 2Mb, 8Mb and upto 16Mb are the download speeds and to the average user it's the most important part. The upload speed is much slower, only affecting most of us when we send an email with photo's or any other large attachment.
The speeds quoted by ISP's are for those that live in a telephone exchange. The rest of us get a reduced speed depending on how far from the exchange you live. Your connection speed will fluctuate and the more you test it the better idea you'll get of your actual speed. Here are a few of my favourites...
Very impressive visually. Wait for the pyramids to load and then click on the yellow one (usually labelled Maidenhead or occasionally Hull) to start the test. http://www.speedtest.net
This one askes you to fill in your email address but the test works fine without it. Derek Sturman loves this test because while he's testing his paltry 1.2Mb connection the background reminds him of his life before he became a professional golfer. http://www.freespeedtest.com
This is a no-nonsense speedtest from Bulldog. http://www.speedtest.bulldogdsl.com

ATOMIC CLOCK CLOSE X
Most web pages displaying the time get it from the computer viewing it. So no matter where in the world it's viewed, it shows local time. The trouble is, if the internal clock of your computer is wrong then the time shown on the web page is wrong.
So, click this clock icon to view the exact time at atomicclock.org.uk. It displays actual GMT, so add an hour on during the summer months, that's the last Sunday in March until the last Sunday in October. |

YOUR IP ADDRESS (Internet Protocol Address)
Every time you connect to the internet your computer is given a unique
number made up of 1, 2 or 3 digits in a set of 4 ie, 87.113.7.287 or 247.4.23.48
Your ISP (Internet Service Provider, AOL, BT etc) are required by
law to log and save this information.
If you persistently visit web sites that are being monitored by the authorities
then you will come to their attention and deleting your browsers 'History' won't
hide the fact. However, don't worry if you inadvertently come across such a site, it
happens to most users, and most users click away once they realise the content.
Just remember... you're not invisible!
