The
Story Behind the Site |
|
|
During the winter and spring of 2004, I found myself stuck
on the Neurology ward of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital,
Sheffield. The staff were amazingly dedicated and professional
and I can't thank them enough. The point of this is that,
during this period, I was bedridden and one of my few
pleasures was reading computer and internet magazines,
such as .net and PCAnswers.
Having had a little experience with web page design (all
drag & drop stuff but the HTML was beginning to make
sense) I found a number of articles on JavaScript very
interesting and I decided to learn more about it.
Once back at
home I found myself with a pile of magazines full of guidance,
a finger on each hand that could just about find the keyboard
and half an idea. So I started tinkering and any nice
features on web sites that I came across, I investigated
and discovered how it had been achieved. Some of the free
tools from the magazine discs became invaluable.
By February 2005 I began developing the idea of a multi-engine
search tool and Yaoogloo! began to take shape. Its still
taking shape as you read but being a one man band, you'll
have to bear with me. |
